How to Create a Podcast: Writing Your Very First Podcast Script

Ahem!

We have been going about how to create a podcast for quite some time. (Well, you can look into our previous article on how to create a podcast from scratch from here!)

But, it isn’t an easy task to build something from scratch. Keeping that in mind, we are here with an in-depth guide on penning down your very first podcast script.

As you might know, a podcast script is a sketch that crafts a roadmap for your episode to bring spontaneity.

Based on the type of show you host, you can decide how you would like to move about with the scripting. You can do it in a minimalist way or elaborate every conversation following a specific structure.

Writing a script helps bring direction, have an outline, add value, and ease moving about with the content while creating your best sex podcast.

Besides, scripts can be a great way to cut out ramblings or other fillers you might feel like using. But, you might think that would it make my podcast sounds robotic or lose its spontaneity?

Absolutely not!

You can bring a touch of personalization and keep your podcast natural and conversational with practice.

Be comfortable on the mic.

Spend time rehearsing before you hit the record button.

Try recording and listening to it. Remember, you always have the option to redo it.

So, sit back and get your notepads ready to jot down how to create your first script for your best sex podcast.

Things to Consider While Creating Your Podcast Script

The best way to script your sex podcast

Keep the Tone Conversational

Keeping it conversational is the key to building positive relationships with your audiences. Having a script can help you walk that mile with ease. But, it doesn’t mean that you have to read out your script aloud, which could sound robotic or as if you are dictating it to someone.

Here is when you have to spice it up by bringing in a conversational tone.

Write your script as if you are engaging in a personal conversation. You can skip the formal writing style as it can lead to a monotonous delivery.

Well, less with the blabbering, and let’s see how you can write your podcast script conversationally.

  • Focus on how people speak and use contractions, reflective pronouns, and even talk in fragments. Here, you don’t have to be a grammar nazi. Instead, move ahead in the flow and speak from your heart.
  • Try to write in short sentences, as long sentences can be confusing, and you might get lost while sharing them.
  • Keep an eye on passive voice usage while creating your script for your best sex podcast.
  • Ensure that you know your audience before working on your script and bring your voice and personality while writing.

Deciding the Type of Script Based on Your Program

As we have looked into how you can make a script conversational, theoretically, let’s now move ahead with the different types of scripts you can try for your to-be best sex podcast.

  • Minimalist Scripts

In a nutshell, these are loose scripts without many details, and you won’t have to spend a lot of time creating them. Here, even if you make mistakes while speaking, they can fit in with your show’s style naturally.

  • Scripts with a Co-host

Here, you can have an in-depth script. However, you don’t have to go word-for-word. You can bring in structural elements to help you and your guest with the key points.

  • Single Host Podcast Scripts

In these podcasts, you can have a detailed outline, where you can provide key points and add anecdotes and structure. However, verbal slip-ups can happen, and you don’t have to worry about them as they are normal.

  • Interview Scripts

Preparation is integral, especially for interviews. Here, you can share the outline and the questions before recording your episodes. Through this, your guest will get ample time to prepare.

  • Fully-scripted Podcasts

In these kinds of scripts, you can have the script written word-for-word. However, it might take time to deliver your podcast naturally with pauses and laughs.

How to create your podcast

Be Yourself

While creating your podcast, it is essential to be true to yourself, which allows you to communicate your feelings wholeheartedly and authentically. However, to be yourself, you have to create a positive relationship with yourself. You can improve your podcast’s scope by focusing on yourself and your true identity.

By bringing your personal touch to your podcast, you can move ahead with a positive attitude. Remember, guests can cancel on you at the last minute. There can be background noises and sometimes your WIFI could even decide to take a day off.

But, with your love to craft your podcast and optimism, you can bring constructive thinking and creative ways to handle such situations.

Well, if you may ask us how to create a podcast

We would suggest that the first thing to do is be yourselves while working on your podcast.

While recording your podcast, avoid leaning onto unnecessary pauses and filler words. Instead, before hitting on the record button, you can do a ten minutes warm-up, where you can focus on how you would like to narrate your podcast.

By the way, you can perform research on the different voice and narration styles that you can adopt for your niche and your topic. While recording, ensure that you sound natural, and working on enunciations can also be helpful.

So, introduce changes to your vocals, and you can notice how different your podcast sounds.

 Segments in Podcast Scripting

Segments in podcast scripts can play an integral role in your podcast. You can incorporate changes based on the type of podcast you have. Here is a basic template for you to work on the different segments of your script:

  • Start with an opening, which can be a jingle or music resonating with your brand’s voice.
  • Have an introduction. Here, you can go a bit old school and create a basic picture of how your episode will be.
  • Next, you can include segues, sound effects, or musicals to smoothen the transition.
  • You can then kickstart your show with the first topic’s discussion. Here, you can dedicate time as per your requirement.
  • Before moving ahead, include a vocal segue and then head on to the next topic.
  • If you have ads, it is time for a podcast advertisement or sponsored message, which can be a pr-recorded one, or you can be speaking the same.
  • You can have a segue and then move on to the next topic.
  • Finally, it’s time for a wrap. Here, have closing remarks with a sneak peek of the episode and conclude with a closing musical jingle.

Show Introduction

With the right background music and intro tunes, you can set the stage and theme for your episodes. It is an excellent way for you to convey the type of content you will be sharing through your podcast.

One of the best ways to do this is by thinking three words to describe your podcast. You can then find out songs that match your description.

Considering this as your inspiration, you can work on your podcast’s music. It will be the best way to excite your audience and grab their attention.

Now, it's time to craft your podcast’s introduction.

Here, you can introduce yourself. But, keep it short. You can share something exciting from the previous episode to drive curiosity to listen to the last episode if they haven’t already. You can have a hook liner to the podcast as you begin to have your audience’s all attention.

While introducing your podcast, mention the podcast’s name, episode title, episode number, hosts’ names, etc. These are mandatory to keep your audience in the loop. However, you have to keep it short and crisp.

Other than that, depending upon the situation of your best sex podcast, you can have a tagline, network id, disclaimer, details of your sponsors, recorded date, etc.,

Introducing the Guest

Having a jingle that you can edit into your podcast can be an excellent way to introduce your guests.

By the way, while introducing your guest, don’t give out their name first.

Beating around the bush and building curiosity by discussing their achievements can be a great way to introduce your guests.

Another thing to consider is asking your guests beforehand how they would like their introduction. Using phrases like, ‘coming right up,’ ‘get ready to meet someone special,’ let’s build the excitement,’ can help get things in motion.

Besides, you can hype up by changing your tone and filling it with excitement. Including these in your script and practicing them are also helpful.

Sponsor Message

Sponsor messages can depend highly on how your sponsor would like to take the ad placement. Sometimes, they can provide you with a word-for-word pre-written segment.

Some others would offer you the opportunity to improvise and bring in conversational elements. Anyhow, you have to choose genuine sponsorships and ensure that they will add value to your listeners.

You can also collaborate with your sponsors and design the script to engage your audience further. You can keep it simple or take it a step further by detailing their products or services.

Segue

Segues are an excellent way to bring transition to your podcast. Using them, you can move from one topic to another with a music jingle, sound effect, or a few words.

Ensure that you place these elements sporadically throughout the episode. When you do that, your audience will start recognizing them with time.

Outro

Here, provide a summary and focus on the key points of your episode. Besides, you can make announcements of upcoming episodes or share resources that can benefit your audience.

Ensure that you thank your audience for spending time and listening to your podcast. You mustn’t take them for granted. The outro is also the time to give credits to your producer, sponsors, editors, and others who have helped you create this episode.

Call to Action

As you complete your podcast’s script, ensure that you add a call to action or CTA. It is the last segment where you can redirect your audience to a specific action.

Some reasons why you need a CTA to include:

  1. You can use it to direct people to buy products, vouchers, etc.,
  2. It is a great tool to build your following and subscription on your social media and podcast.
  3. You can ask your audience to leave ratings and reviews. These components can help improve your podcast.
  4. You can request your listeners to subscribe to your email list and recommend your podcast to others.

These are some benefits of adding a CTA at the end of your podcast. However, you have to think it through before drafting your CTA and ensure it aligns with your podcast and its topic.
