Conversations with Marlon67, Adult Entertainer and Content Creator

Doing what you love to do can be a challenge. Similarly, finding a purpose and living that purpose can also be a hurdle. There can be millions of people who would be questioning and judging your views and perspectives. Nonetheless, there are a few people who show the courage to defy the odds and continue to pursue what they believe in. It is when Marlon came to our attention.

A content creator at OnlyFans and a strip club host, Marlon67 shares with us about his journey in the adult industry. By the way, he is also a writer and an astrologer. So, without wasting any more time, let’s read through what Marlon67 has said to Tickle.Life. 

It would be great if you could speak a little bit about your journey as a South African Adult Entertainer.

To be honest, I found my purpose when I was still in university. In university, I was a peer educator and counselor. That is when I came across a group called Aids Sexuality and Gender. I enrolled myself in their nine-week program. In that program, we used to sit as peers and discuss topics like sexuality and gender. These are considered taboo and we generally don’t talk about them with our parents. 

When I graduated from the university, I studied Information Technology(IT) and got into the IT sector. That is when I sort of started feeling like I am not living my purpose.

My purpose was to be the voice of reason, the voice of people who are misinformed about things that are seen as taboo, stigma, or stereotype. 

I was a person who never liked one source of income. Hence, I started promoting and hosting nightclub scenes, while I was still in corporate. Back then, there weren’t many places where queer people can go and be themselves. So, I was predominantly hosting at heterosexual places.

After that, I started working at a strip club and that is where I again felt that I have a purpose. Because I was at a place where people come as they are not judged, they come to explore their sexuality and do things that they can’t in the outside world.

Then, I quit corporate and was fully into the adult entertainment industry. I started hosting at strip clubs and private mansions and became an adult content creator.

What are the challenges you have faced as you started building your career?

There are a couple of challenges. Although, I don't see them as challenges. Firstly, it was making people understand why I was doing what I was doing. People could not understand how a person with good school grades, went to a university, got a job, and then did something completely different. People were confused as it wasn’t like I was going through any life crisis. 

I just stopped living the way the world expected me to. Lots of stigma and stereotypes are attached to the adult industry. Hence, people believe all adult entertainers can do is look pretty and sell sex. But, this is not the case. They assumed that adult entertainers cannot be smart.

The people I wanted to understand were my family, my sister to be specific. But, I didn’t have to make her understand. She accepted it as I was happy and this had given me a purpose.

There are other challenges as well. For instance, when my brand Marlon67 started becoming popular, it was people from outside who accepted me first. I have fans from all across the globe.

But, I wanted Africans to see me so that I could normalize this. I wanted them to see me for who I am and the purpose I am living for.

“Energy is the language for me,” these words really struck our curiosity. If you could speak about it, it would be awesome.

I tweeted this some days ago. I am a very spiritual person. On the contrary, people don’t understand how an adult star can be spiritual. I am an astrologer as well.

For me, energy is the language that I need to establish with my clients. For example, if I am meeting a client, I need to get that energy. That is why I like interacting with them. There are clients also who just want to have sex when I am booked for sex work. Even then, I need to have that five-minute chat.

Their energy will tell me if I want to do it or not. Because, at the end of the day, I have to be comfortable as well. If I don’t have comfortable energy then I won’t be able to perform as a sex worker. Along with the client, my satisfaction matters as well.

As an astrologer, I believe not everyone deserves my energy. I consider myself fortunate that before coming to the adult industry, I had my own spiritual journey. I meet different people every day and sometimes energy can dampen energy. This is a way for me to protect myself spiritually, emotionally, and physically.

We would love to know more about your experience as a creator for Only Fans.

It has been a great journey. I am a writer as well, so in 2019 I released a story online called ‘DL Thug Passion’. It is basically about two men falling in love and unfolds different lives of homosexual people, who are in the closet. This story had lots of intimate scenes. The story was well-accepted by all.

People soon started asking for visuals. That is when I saw the gap in the market and got the opportunity to monetize my skills. So, I started re-enacting the scenes I had written in the story. Then I opened my account on OnlyFans, where anybody can subscribe if they want to see it.

The platform allowed me to be comfortable with myself before the world was comfortable with me. I got the opportunity to experiment with my sexuality and everything that comes with it.

It will be great if you can share one of your memorable experiences as a strip club and party host.

My most memorable memory is when I started hosting a strip club called, ‘Hydro’. I met the manager for the first time as they wanted to see what I can offer to the club. We didn’t really gel. I thought maybe because this is a heterosexual place and I am homosexual.

After my interview, I didn’t leave the club, I stayed behind and interacted with the girl strippers there. And! They loved me. So, when I was chatting with the stripper, I was able to connect to them and protect them as well. The manager was observing all this and that’s how I became a strip club host.

It was a straight club but I loved to be there. I loved to be in places where I can live my purpose.  This instance was very organic. Someone didn’t see my capabilities not in the interview but rather outside.
