Tired of the same old sexy nurse, sexy cat, and sexy XYZ costumes? Leave the old tradition of man-pleasing porn behind, and turn to a new kind of sexy - the sex-positive sexy.
Here are a few quick and easy costume ideas inspired by some of the strongest female characters to appear in the last few years!
5. BoJack Horseman's "Diane"
An easy character to like, Diane Nguyen has grown to be an extremely relatable character, not only because of her kind of judgmental attitude, but also how well all of her flaws line up with the approaches she was forced to take in the past because of ignorant parents and four unsupportive brothers. Additionally, her outfit on the show is REALLY easy to recreate, all you need is a regular white tank top, blue jeans, a green jacket and some glasses. If you really want to go the extra mile you can add in the blue wig, but it's really not necessary since the show's been quite a success, and you're likely to fit right in. What's more? This character works with short hair too!
4. Miley Cyrus
Might be a slightly outdated reference, but feminism is always in style! Go as one of the really strong voices of sex-positive feminism in the Hollywood - Miley Cyrus. Her transformation from an 'innocent disney star' to a real, vulnerable artist was met with such strong criticism but she braved the waters and made sure that everyone knew she was here to stay. Not to mention, a simple white crop top and underwear/shorts shouldn't be hard to find. A hammer and boots shouldn't be too hard to find either!
(Tip - If you have longer hair, consider using hair gel and putting it in a slicked-back high ponytail to get as close to this look as you can!)
3. Miss America Chavez
Miss America, one of the lesser known Marvel characters, was the first LGBTQ character to star in a series. She was also pretty badass, and didn't seem as cocky as Captain America to many audiences. Additionally, her outfit choices are pretty simple, with yoga pants/shorts, denim jackets, and either red or blue t-shirts making up the bulk of them. Super easy, super #woke.
2. Rosie the Riveter
Rosie the Riveter was the representation of the women in factories working, usually on the production of ammunition and other things the soldiers needed. This image is so closely connected to the feminist movement that it could actually even make you feel more empowered as a woman. And of course, it's perhaps the easiest outfit to make, just find a blue shirt and a headband.
Cat Calling!
