Porn is not Sex Education.

Porn is not Sex Education.

Porn is NOT a replacement for adequate sex education ⁣ Here's why...⁣ ⁣

⫸For teens, watching porn is often their first sexual experience. This can create a skewed view of sex from a young age.

⫸Porn is a fantasy and is not realistic. Many important aspects of sex education, like contraceptive use, consent, and boundaries are not seen nor discussed in mainstream porn.

⫸Learning about sex from fantasy does not adequately prepare you for real-life situations. ⁣ I have discussed with many folks on how porn is their first peep into the world of sex.

This can be especially problematic moving into adulthood. It takes years of un-learning to fundamentally change views on sex that is not hindered by mainstream porn.⁣ ⁣

Note: This post is NOT about bashing porn. It is just a reminder that it does not replace adequate, comprehensive sex education.

I think the porn that should be consumed should be ethical and inclusive. ⁣ ⁣

What did you have to un-learn about sex from watching porn? Also, list some ethical porn sites so I can share them! @bellesaco is one that I know!
