Interview with Kristopher Lovestone: The Conscious Cock

Where can men go when they need help? Kristopher Lovestone’s book, “The Conscious Cock” is a college level 101 course in healthy sex-positive masculinity. It is a self-help guide for men on how to change their relationship patterns through healthy masculinity and intimacy tools to all men who aspire to be in authentic relationships.

“ Men need help.” Lovestone believes that there is a lack of adequate help for men to explore “healthy masculinity”. Men are often unaware of their misdoings, crossing boundaries of consent and communication that they didn’t even know exist. Men need to change their relationship patterns through healthy masculinity and intimacy tools. The author plays with the word cock as he makes a rooster the mascot of his book as a symbol of positive masculinity.

The minds of men are not freed. Lovestone says, “ There is such overwhelming pressure on our sensibilities from the community to live life in a certain way without questioning.” He talks about the deep-seated homophobia in America when it comes to men. There is no casual touch, men are shamed out it. Women are granted this freedom as “sisterhood”. Even from family, men hear things like “toughen up”, “don’t cry like a girl”, “be strong”. There is an “indoctrination of culture to not feel feelings.”

Men who have built stone walls around them are bound to fail at communicating and engaging with their partners. They become robots, unable to express themselves and have authentic relationships. Men need a safe space to adapt and evolve. He recommends methods that help men express themselves, experience solidarity and feel supported.

Alienation from your own emotions puts you in a feedback loop that causes a psychological burden. Relationships are bound to doom if men indulge in childish behaviour where they expect their partners to understand without communication. Men need to learn to express themselves to empower themselves to have healthy, authentic relationships and sex positive masculinity.

The conscious cock has a lot to offer, perspective shifts, communication tools, women psychology and physiology, sexual empowerment and techniques.
