Being hygienic while using public toilets

When it comes to public washrooms in India, especially in the railway and bus stations, they are mostly unhygienic. It is essential to carry sanitizers and tissue papers while you use them. You will have to ensure that you do not catch any infections. It is always better to use washrooms in your hotels or hostels. However, if you are using public toilets, the chances of having trash cans in them are meager. It is better to carry a disposable bag with you. So, you can toss the used menstrual products when you find a trash can.

Change your menstrual products from time to time!

It is essential to change your menstrual product from time-to-time. It can prevent infections and also avoid all the chances of encountering Toxic Shock Syndromes. The type of menstrual product you use can also alter the time duration required for changing them. It is better to use menstrual cups while traveling as they can last for at least 12 hours. If you prefer pads or tampons, you can consider using biodegradable pads or tampons.

Carrying double the number of menstrual products than you require

Whether you prefer tampons, pads, or menstrual cups, it is always better to pack more while traveling. You can go twice or thrice the same number of menstrual products that you regularly purchase. Even when you are not menstruating, you can consider carrying them. You don't need to find the products that you prefer in the places you travel to. Having them with you can avoid tension and hassle.

Having a menstrual hygiene kit

Whether you are going for a short trip or a long one, you can always form a menstrual hygiene kit. You can include menstrual products of your choice or preference, hand sanitizer, hand wash, extra pair of underwear, panty liners, and tissue papers. You can also add a disposable bag to your menstrual hygiene kit. You can carry your menstrual hygiene kit in your handbag that you would be taking with you wherever you go. It will assist you in case of any emergencies.

Schedule bathroom breaks while you travel!

Though you might not be able to find washrooms in all the places you travel to, you can always look into your itinerary beforehand. You can plan your bathroom breaks accordingly. If you are going on a trek or a hike, you can always choose menstrual cups as they can last longer. However, it is not safe to use two sanitary products at the same time. Most times, we would consider using two pads to avoid leakage and manage heavy flows. Though they can help us solve these issues, they can cause dryness and bacterial infection. So, it is beneficial to change your pads by scheduling washroom breaks instead of using multiple pads at the same time.

Take short walks while you are on a long trip!

Walking can help a lot if you are on your periods while traveling. It can get pretty tiresome when you travel via flights, trains, buses, or other vehicles for a long time. You can take short walks while you are on a train. If you are traveling via a private vehicle, you can always halt for a while and take short walks. It can be relaxing and also assist in keeping your blood flow stable.

Keeping yourself hydrated

Drinking plenty of water and other healthy liquids are always necessary while traveling. However, when you are menstruating while you travel, it can be a plus to your health. Fluids can keep you hydrated, and you will feel rejuvenated.

Many people rely upon pills to delay their periods. But, they might not be helpful if you are on a long trip. Apart from that, you have to take medical advice before you start any such medications. If you face cramps and pain, you can always carry medicines advised by your doctor. You have to eat healthily and avoid sleeping for a long time while traveling on a vehicle. By incorporating these measures into your travel plans, you can always go on a trip without worrying. You have to take necessary precautions as well. So, ready to enjoy your next trip? Be prepared and planned to avoid any last-minute tensions. Bon Voyage!
