Why coronavirus has led to coronavirus centric porn

The new coronavirus disease - called Sars-Covid-19 - is worrying and is affecting everybody’s life around the world, as more cases are diagnosed in an increasing number of countries. In the past few weeks, the coronavirus has been featured in the entire world press. Cities, states, and countries have restricted people’s movement in order to stop the virus’s spread.

The quarantine period - how it is called-  increases the number of visits to porn sites worldwide. In addition to online courses and classes on Instagram, people are occupying their quarantine time on porn sites. The proof is that the channels are registering an increase in the number of accesses and subscriptions.

Despite the tragic results of the coronavirus, the topic has become the target of the porn industry. Even with so much concern a porn was launched on Pornhub and went viral on social networks. Most of the comments, as you can imagine, are shocking.

Acording to Vice, you can already see on PornHub, the audience leader among adult videos, productions that appeal to themes influenced by the disease - attracting an audience. Among the publications, there is one that shows a "health professional" with aprons and a doctor's mask having sex with a woman, also wearing safety robes. All of this filmed in point of view (PoV), when the images show the male protagonist's point of view.

How is the coronavirus porn?

The video was uploaded to Pornhub's "Spicy x Rice" account. In the three-minute and forty-second video, we see a GoPro with the vision of a disease control agent. He walks through dark and deserted places, while a voice tries to contact him, without success.

In two minutes of video, we are surprised by an excited patient, more like a zombie, who attacks the poor disease control agent and does what she wants with him.

But this is not the only adult content with the coronavirus theme. Actor duo Chase Poundher and Little Squirtles released a video in which the girl comes home "full of love to give", but is interrupted by the boy, who wears a protective mask. He explains everything about the prevention of the coronavirus as it was an informative video from the government. Then, of course, the two get in action - without removing their masks.

What’s the real point?

As we can see not everything comes down to fetishes. Believe it or not, some producers are using the platform as a means of raising awareness. Vice says that it was really more about informing of the usage of protective masks and these kinds of contents, serving more as a gag than to get you horny. What do you think?

A case study on Netherlands

Sexual behaviors are learned in the first years of our lives. A talkative and curious child may start showing interest in sex between 2 or 3 years old, even without using the word, most will at ages 4 or 5.

For this reason, family and school plays an important role when, through the right information, they guarantee and protect the natural development of sexuality.

Paradoxically, even with so much modernity, with a wide openness of sexual themes in our society, many parents suffer difficulties in approaching the theme “sexuality” with their children. Either because of values, prejudices, taboos or even out of shame.

Sex education is still not an easy subject to be discussed in many countries. We all know that the individual is an essentially subjective and unique entity.  Therefore, it is extremely important that the family and the school, in partnership, dedicate to children and adolescents a sexual orientation that enables them to understand the transformations that are occurring in their body and transmitting sensations - in a natural and uninterrupted way. 

While many countries still face cultural, political and religious issues that interfere in clarifying sexuality, there are other who are very practical about dealing with issues. While in the US, where talking about human sexuality is , in many ways, still a taboo, specially with kids, the Netherlands provides a useful reminder of how strong and healthy sex education added with naturality on speaking about sex and bodies can change everything. They realize that human sexuality is a perfectly natural part of life, and the more resources with which children are equipped, the better off they will be. Because of that, in the Netherlands, one of the world’s most gender-equal countries, kids learn about sex and bodies starting at age 4.  

By law, all primary school students in the Netherlands must receive some form of sexuality education. No, it’s not like you’ll hear an explicit reference to sex in a kindergarten class full of young children confused about what’s going on. In fact, the term for what’s being taught is sexuality education rather than sex education. 

Although it provides guidance on what will be taught, the system allows this to be done in a flexible way, as communities are different, but always addressing fundamental principles that range from sexual diversity and sexual assertiveness.  That means encouraging respect for all sexual preferences and helping students develop skills to protect against sexual coercion, intimidation and abuse. They learn about mutual agreement, no hurting, and respect for boundaries. The most important thing they’re taught is that sexual development is a normal process that all young people experience, and they have the right to frank, trustworthy information on the subject. They can trust that what’s been taught is natural and something to openly talk about.

Respecting others boundaries and emphasizing the importance of sex in the context of a loving and respectful relationship is where the Dutch sex education begin to teach children. Important matters, like consent, how to say “no” and talking about what feels good and what doesn’t, if they’re ready for it, and having the mind to act responsibly in terms of both contraception and respect for their partner.

Dutch sex education also includes topics such as gender identity and homosexuality. Children there learn early that it is perfectly natural for two men or two women to be in love.

On those classes, no subject is taboo. Especially in the final grades, where many important discussions end up not being addressed, such as oral sex and masturbation. Conversations about this make girls take a more active role in showing their changing wills and not feeling pressured. This makes so that Dutch women are very likely more open and frank about what they want and don't want in bed. While girls discover that their sexual desires are perfectly natural, boys are encouraged to embrace, express and let their romantic emotions and feelings flow.

This was just one example of where and how good sex education should start. As we could see, there is much to be improved in several models of sex education around the world, which are considered outdated and full of improvements to be made. Analyzing and obtaining the best that each one can offer could guarantee to our future generations a healthier, more pleasurable and demystified sex life.
