Food to Elevate Women's Health

Due to various diets and multiple nutritional recommendations from family and friends, many times women tend to ignore the “good” stuff that’s available naturally to them. From seasonal vegetables and fruits to perennial nuts and herbs – pack your daily food consumption with some amazing options that are not only good for your beauty and fitness but also benefit your reproductive wellness.

Blood purifiers

Cruciferous vegetables like broccoli, cabbage and cauliflower aid in blood purification

While there is no one particular item that can magically detox you, a mix of seasonal greens and local fruit additions in your daily diet is a must. To cleanse and filter out waste and toxins from the blood make sure you drink plenty of water and juices. Have a regular intake of Cruciferous vegetables such as broccoli, cabbage, cauliflower, and Brussels sprouts. You can either eat them raw, steamed, baked, grilled or as a main course dish at lunch or dinner.

Anti-aging

Blueberries and other similar berries help keep a check on UTIs and prevent bacterial infections

Berries are the best-known source of antioxidants and can protect your liver, kidneys, and skin from external damage. While a handful of blueberries will keep your skin healthy, cranberries on the other hand will keep a check on UTIs and prevent bacterial infections in the body. You can eat them fresh or frozen, have it with salads or mix them into yogurt, oatmeal, or a smoothie.

Strong foundation

Lima Beans, Dry Beans, Black Eyed Peas and great source of good iron and protein for vegetarians

For adolescents as well as grown-up women, good health should be measured by sufficient intake of calcium, iron, and protein in daily diet to avoid any nutritional deficiency. Iron-rich foods such as lean meats and whole-grain items like bread and rotis are known to keep the body’s iron stores at adequate levels. For a good source of iron, calcium, and protein, include meat like beef, pork, and lamb, or add fish, mussels, oysters, and poultry like turkey, duck, and chicken (especially liver) to your diet. For vegetarians, leafy greens, kale, turnip greens, lima beans, green peas, dry beans, black-eyed peas, and canned baked beans are must-haves.

Immunity boosters

The best way to fight an infection is prevention. Add garlic for its anti-inflammatory properties, and keep your cholesterol and blood pressure in check. Think of ginger to maintain body sugar balance and green tea can help in the smooth functioning of the liver by reducing fat deposits. For better kidney filtration, add Hibiscus to your tea or juice. And, if you can find Parsley or Dandelion, have a little bit of it to filter our waste from the blood and keep your kidneys clean.

Fertility foods

Nuts and fruits that are full of antioxidants like vitamins C and E, folate, beta carotene, and lutein.

A mix of good fibers, multivitamins, and special types of high-fat dairy in the diet is considered to be good for the smooth functioning of reproductive cycles. Add nuts and fruits that are full of antioxidants like vitamins C and E, folate, beta carotene, and lutein. Some easily accessible high fiber foods can be obtained from whole grains, fruits, vegetables, and beans, and avoid trans fat and refined carb intake to keep the body fat in check. For those who suffer from cramps, PCOS, or any such issues, the best way to keep hormones in balance is through exercise and adequate rest.
